SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Police in Salisbury have charged a Marine recruiter with sexually assaulting two female recruits in his office.

According to police, Marine Sergeant Derek Craig Percival was charged with numerous charges including 1 count of sexual servitude and 1 count of attempted second degree rape, both felonies.

Salisbury police began investigating this case on Thursday after receiving complaints that the 24-year-old Sergeant had sexually assaulted two female recruits in his Salisbury office.

On Friday, officers made contact with United States Marine Corps authorities about the allegations.

After conducting an interview Saturday in Percival's apartment, he was placed under arrest and charged.

He is currently being held under $100,000 secure bond in the Rowan County Detention Center.

The Marines have been notified about the charges and arrest.
