Neighbors arrested for breaking into home during drowned toddler's funeral

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) - Two people have been charged for breaking into the home of a family that was grieving the loss of a one-year-old child.

On Tuesday, September 11, one year old Parker Munn was reported missing from his house along Rockwood Drive by his mother.

According to the sheriff's office report, Parker apparently was able to open a door to the residence and left the residence to play. Parker's Mother, Jessica Munn, called 911 and alerted neighbors to assist in searching for her son.

Parker was found a short time later in a small decorative landscaped pond at a neighbor's house, next door, a few yards from the victim's home.

Efforts were made to save Parker, but he was pronounced dead on the scene.

After the incident, the parents of Parker began staying with family in Rockwell, and during Parker's funeral, their home was broken into and over $4,000 in property was stolen, including the deceased victim Parker's property.

A Bible in a wicker basket under the child's bed was one of the items taken.

Sheriff's Detectives began investigating the crime. Detectives were able obtain substantial assistance from concerned citizens due to the nature of the crime.

On Wednesday, September 19th, investigators obtained a lead that Bobby Milam and his girlfriend, Jessica Williams, had sold jewelry to a local precious metal dealer, and that Milam & Williams lived next door to the victim's residence, along Rockwood Drive.

Detective Misenheimer located this metal dealer and was able to identify the jewelry sold as being Parker's mother, Jessica Kepley's property.

Detective Dangerfield obtained a search warrant for the residence of Bobby Milam and his girlfriend Jessica Williams and served it on Thursday September 20th.

According to the report,  Williams and Milam weren't home, but detectives conducted a search of the residence and discovered property of Parker's parents inside the residence.

Lt. Moose conducted a search of a burned trash pile in the back yard and discovered the burned remains of Parker's birth certificate book, picture frame and an angel ornament that had been in Parker's bedroom.

These items were seized, and efforts to locate the two suspects began.

Later on the night of September 20th, Sheriff Patrol deputies received information that Milam and Williams were at a location off Poole Road, and deputies responded to arrest the couple.

Warrants were served on the couple for (F) Breaking, Entering and Larceny and (F) Obtaining Property by False Pretense and they were placed in jail under a $50,000 secured bond.

Investigators will also be seeking charges of burning personal property for Parker's property that was found burned in the trash pile.
