CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A fire at a recycling plant closed down a road in southwest Charlotte Tuesday.

The fire broke out at the Sonoco Recycling Plant at 3901 Barringer Drive around 3 p.m.

According to a neighboring business, Barringer Drive was blocked off near the plant while 39 firefighters worked to bring the fire under control.

WBTV had a crew at the scene, and was able to confirm that the fire was in a cardboard container behind the plant. Firefighters were able to get ahead of the flames to prevent it from spreading into the plant.

Charlotte Fire reported it took about 30 minutes to get the flames under control. No one was hurt.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire.
