LENOIR, NC (WBTV) - Fire investigators are looking into what caused an overnight fire at a Caldwell County factory Tuesday.
The incident was reported around 7 a.m. at the Autumn Wood Products on the 400 block of Pine Mountain Road, according to a news release from the Caldwell County Fire Marshal's Office.
Fire Marshal Robbie Wilkie says that employees of the company found a fire smoldering in the building as they arrived for work.
Wilkie says it appears the fire burned through the night and destroyed a refrigerator, a work bench and the ceiling above those items with damages estimated at around $5,000.
The business is owned by Randy German. Firefighters from Hudson Fire Department extinguished what was left of the fire.
The Caldwell County Fire Marshal's office and the Hudson Police Department are investigating the fire and no further details will be released at this time.
If anyone has any information about the fire, they are asked to call the Hudson Police Department at 828-728-5021 or the Caldwell County Fire Marshal's Office at 828-757-1280.
