Teen shot, killed at house party; Charlotte's 5th homicide in a week
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Police say a party turned violent, culminating in gunshots at a house party in east Charlotte that left a teenager dead and two others injured. The shooting becomes Charlotte's 5th homicide in a week.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers were called to a home along the 5900 block of Timbertop Lane early Sunday morning around 12:19 a.m. to the report of multiple people shot.
When officers arrived on scene, they found three males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Eighteen-year-old Kevin Washington was pronounced deceased on scene by Medic.
Two others, 18-year-olds Garrett Hall and Tevin Horton, were transported to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment and are expected to be okay. Hall was shot in the leg, Horton was shot in the arm.
According to preliminary witness statements, a large number of people were attending a party at the home when an altercation between two separate groups broke out before the shooting.
Detectives continue to aggressively work this case for additional leads and information, police told WBTV.
