MORGANTON, NC (WBTV) -- Grandview Baptist Church on Hwy 126 was about to have the doors locked and be owned by the bank.
Then last week, a stranger pulled up in a blue pick-up truck.
"I never met him before," said Pastor John Whisnant, Jr. It turns out, that stranger helped turn Whisnant's worst day into one of his best days.
"He says, 'What will it take to get the Bank of Granite off your back?'" said Whisnant. The pastor says he gave him a number, and the man said, "I'll take care of it for you."
The church was saved $345,000 later.
A gift freely given. No strings attached.
"We just call it the miracle, you know," said Whisnant. He says it's starting to sink in, how this donor paid the price.
Wednesday, he was unpacking everything they already had packed up for storage. The piano, the podium, the PA system were all put back in place.
He said it felt good. Everything has a purpose.
"The Bible says to whom much is given, much is required. We are chomping at the bit to see what God has for us. We're going to serve to the best of our ability," he said.
