CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Police have identified the woman accused of throwing hot grease on her neighbors.

Regina Terry faces multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon and malicious maiming. Late Sunday the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team served a search warrant on her apartment.

Terry was arrested in Richmond County Monday morning and was being extradited back to Charlotte.

Police responded to a fight call just before 1 p.m. Sunday at 1511 Polk Street after a group of girls got into an argument.

Neighbors say they heard arguing for about 10 to 15 minutes and then watched a woman from one apartment throw hot grease on people from the neighboring apartment.

"I didn't see what she had [thrown] but I hear kids screaming..heard 'she threw grease' and all of that..and they were just going crazy," Neighbor Toyea Jordan said.

Police say eight people in all were hurt. The victims range from 1 year old to 42 years old. Four of the victims were taken to a burn center in Chapel Hill. Two others were treated and released at a local hospital. One person did not show up for treatment.

Medics returned to the scene around 6 p.m. and transported a 3-year-old to the hospital to treat superficial burn wounds to her arms.

"They argue on a daily basis but it never gets physical..this right here went to another level," one neighbor said.
