CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say no one was injured after landing gear failed on a World War II plane trying to land at Charlotte Douglas Airport.

Officials say the B-24 Bomber skidded down the runway when a pilot tried to land the plane at around 4:20 p.m. on Saturday.

There were 16 aviation enthusiasts onboard the "The Diamond Lil" from the Carolinas Aviation Museum. The plane is one of three historic aircrafts on display that offered rides over the weekend from the museum.

The plane suffered minimal damage. Officials said no one was injured, and federal authorities are investigating.
