Man poses as motel employee and assaults woman, police say

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are on the lookout for a man they say posed as a motel employee and assaulted a woman.

The incident happened on February 11, 2012. Police said a woman responded to a knock on her door and the person on the other side identified themselves as she let him in.

The woman then told police the man looked around the room and then left, but returned a short time later.

The second time he came in the victim's room, the woman said the man attacked her.

She struggled with him while trying to get to her phone and use a knife to defend herself, police said.

The knife was taken from her during the struggle and the suspect cut her with it. He then fled the room and presumably the motel with the victim's cell phone, according to police.

The suspect was described as a 5'11 black man who is about 30-years-old with a medium to large build, receding hairline and gold in his mouth.

He was last seen wearing a two-piece jogging suit with a design on the front and eyeglasses.

Police believe the man was driving a light in color, possibly gold, Crown Victoria style vehicle.

Anyone with information regarding this case, call 911 immediately or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
