Mom assaults woman after son run over at bus stop, report says

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A mother whose son was hit by a car assaulted the driver and the driver's nine-year-old daughter, police in Charlotte say.
According to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police report, an 8-year-old boy was getting off a school bus at the Ashley Place Apartment complex along Idlewild Road at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, when he was struck by a vehicle.
The 31-year-old woman driving the vehicle reportedly left the scene of the accident "without stopping or rendering assistance" and went home.
That's when officers say the mother of the little boy went to the home of Joana Echeverria Mariche and the two reportedly began to argue.
"The mother punched [Mariche] in the face and pushed her [9-year-old] daughter," the police report states.
Mariche had to be treated for a bloody nose. The little boy had to be treated for his injuries after being hit by the car, police say.
Mariche was arrested and booked in Mecklenburg County jail on Friday morning at 1:26 a.m. She was charged with Hit and Run with Failure to Stop Resulting in Injury or Death.
She is being held on a $7,500 bond.
