Pedestrian hit, injured near hospital, driver takes off, police say

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Police are searching for a man they say hit a pedestrian near Presbyterian Hospital on Wednesday, leaving them with a gash in their head.

The hit and run happened around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of East 4th Street and Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte Mecklenburg Police said.

The victim received several staples to the back of their head to treat the laceration, according to police.

The driver is described as a clean cut man around 70-year-old with gray hair and gray rimmed glasses. The suspect vehicle is described as a newer model Toyota with tinted windows.

The suspect did try to help the victim, but left the scene without providing any information.
