TAYLORSVILLE, NC (WBTV) - An Alexander County couple Wednesday pleaded guilty to killing a woman over beer nearly 2 years ago.

Jerry and Lisa Damron were initially nabbed for speeding in Virginia in July 2009. But, police found the dead body of their neighbor, Kelly Culley, in the back of the van they were driving.

The Damron couple admitted killing Culley, 42, in an argument over beer and then driving toward West Virginia to dump Culley's body.

Lisa Damron was sentenced to 15 years in prison for second degree murder while Jerry Damron was given a life sentence for first degree murder.

Authorities stopped the van for speeding on I-77 and were about to have the van towed in July 2009, but a deputy inventoried the inside of the van and found the dead body, according to the Roanoke Times.
