Firefighters busy with 2 fires Friday afternoon

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The Charlotte Fire Department and the Steele Creek VFD were busy responding to two house fires Friday afternoon.

The first fire started around 3 pm on Double Oaks Road just north of Center City Charlotte.

Fire officials said the fire was contained to the kitchen area.

The homeowner was awakened by a smoke detector and able to escape from the home safely.  The homeowner suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The second fire was reported around 3:20 pm on Beaman Avenue in the Steele Creek area of Mecklenburg County.

No injuries have been reported at the Beaman Avenue fire.
