Freedom Drive still closed due to crash

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department is reporting that Freedom Drive near Toddville Rd was closed overnight and it's unclear when it will reopen. It was supposed to reopen around 10 a.m. Thursday, but it was still closed at 11 a.m. and there was no ETA for when it would reopen.

Repair crews say a truck was going too fast in the heavy rains during last night's storm. They say the driver lost control and barreled through two utility poles.

The repair crews say the power lines are still hot, so they have to be careful handling them. They also say if a line touched a nearby guardrail, then the guardrail would pick up the charge. Then anyone who touched the rail would be electricuted.

The driver apparently was not seriously hurt.
