Amtrak train crashes into vehicle

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - An Amtrak train carrying 104 passengers collided with a car hauler around 5:30 p.m. Friday evening.

It happed in east Charlotte right off of Old Concord Road.

Officials say the hauler was unable to dislodge itself before the train collided into it.

The driver of the car hauler was able to get out of the truck before the collision.

Three patients including the driver of the truck were treated on scene with non-life-threatening injuries and refused transport.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department has notified WBTV that the area of Old Concord Rd at the rail crossing will be closed till at least mid day Saturday.
