Multiple fire departments called out to Freightliner plant in Rowan County
Flames started on a rack outside before the fire moved onto the building, officials said.
ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - Multiple fire departments responded to a fire at a Freightliner plant in Rowan County on Friday night, officials said.
The fire started around 8:10 p.m. at the factory in the 11000 block of Statesville Boulevard in Cleveland.
Flames reportedly started on a material rack outside of the building and then spread to the structure.
Multiple departments from Rowan County responded to the scene, as well as some from Iredell County.
A heavy cloud of black smoke could be seen for miles over much of western Rowan County.
No injuries have been reported.
Fire officials said that the fire was contained after about an hour, but many firefighters remained on the scene doing overhaul operations.
