STATESVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) - Police have announced that no evidence was found after a student reported being inappropriately touched at an Iredell County middle school.

According to the Statesville Police Department, the alleged incident happened on Wednesday at American Renaissance School.

The student allegedly said they were having their picture taken when they were touched.

The department’s Criminal Investigations Division found no evidence the incident had occurred after speaking to school employees and staff present at the time.

Investigators say that based on witness statements, a teacher and other staff were there (as is policy when a contracted employee is with a student) and watched the entire photo process.

The information gathered during the investigation was taken to the district attorney’s office. Officials there agreed there was no evidence to back up the misconduct claim.
