Camp CMS starts on Monday: What parents need to know
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - More than 30,000 students will be heading to Camp CMS next Monday.
The summer program is for kids K through 12 needing to brush up on their academics this summer. It also gives kids a place to be with other kids after spending much of this school year remote.
The camp runs June 14 – July 29 with a one-week break (No camp July 5 – 9).
CMS parent Sasha Collazo says she quit her job to stay at home, keeping her children Julian and Nadia fully remote through the end of the school year.
Camp CMS will be the first time her rising second and sixth graders will be back in the classroom.
“I always believe that kids listen better when they’re with others and not their parents, so I feel it will benefit and get into the stability of things and get back into the swing of things,” Collazo said.
Camp CMS runs Monday through Thursday, with different start times at each school.

Campers will also get breakfast and lunch at no charge, along with a 3-day meal bundle to take home each Thursday.
CMS is also offering an After School Enrichment Program from the time of camp dismissal to 6pm Monday through Thursday.
According to CMS, 1,317 students are signed up for ASEP this summer.
The district is also offering full care from 8am to 5pm on Fridays, when camp is not in session.

“I’m excited, they’re excited to get back to being with friends, and being in another environment,” Collazo told WBTV.
Parents are also able to request transportation in the mornings, afternoons or both.
If you still need to request transportation, you should contact staff at your child’s assigned Camp CMS school.
Masks will be required on the buses and in school, and CMS is recommending that anyone eligible for the vaccine get it before camp starts.
