Crash leaves hundreds without power, closes road in south Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - More than 2,800 homes lost power Monday morning when a vehicle crashed into a power pole in south Charlotte.

The crash happened just before 4:30 a.m. on Old Pineville Road at Silverleaf Road, blocking the area.

Duke Energy reports more than 2,800 homes lost power in the areas surrounding Old Pineville Road. By 8:30 a.m., around 700 homes were still without power. Crews initially expected to have power fully restored by 7:30 a.m. The time was later moved to 4 p.m.

There’s no word on what caused the crash. No injuries were reported.
