INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. (WBTV) - An Indian Trail dentist office and pharmacy are teaming up to administer the COVID-19 vaccine.
WBTV first brought you this story in January when the husband and wife duo applied with North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to get their vaccine supply.
Pharmacist Harry Patel said he didn’t have enough space at his pharmacy to give the vaccine which is why he wanted to partner with his wife at Indian Trail Dental Studio.
They’ve given 60 first doses of the Moderna vaccine to people this week.
Patel said he wanted to make sure people could get the vaccine at a place they were comfortable and where they wouldn’t have to fight for an appointment.
“We have done our part as far as making sure our community knows that we are here to help vaccinate,” Patel said. “We are here to help move us forward together.”
“It’s local it’s within five minutes of my house which if you go online and try to find an appointment they’re all the way booked out or you have to drive forever to go get one,” said Sumer Smith, who received her vaccination.
Vaccine appointments aren’t just for patients at Indian Trail Dental Studio, it’s open to everyone in groups 1 through 5.
Patel said he’s also going mobile to offer the vaccine to people who can’t travel and is looking to partner with churches and schools, too.
