INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. (WBTV) - A wanted man is suspected to have robbed two stores at gunpoint in Matthews and Indian Trail over the weekend.

On Saturday March 27, the suspect went in the Adam’s Mart store on East Independence Boulevard in Matthews and demanded money at gunpoint. This incident took place around 2:50 a.m.

The suspect was last seen running from the scene in an unknown direction. Police say there were no injuries or shots fired reported from this incident. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing around 140 pounds with a slim build.

The Union County armed robbery happened around 3 a.m. Saturday at a Circle K on Independence Boulevard in Indian Trail.

Deputies with the Union County Sheriff’s Office say a man walked into the gas station, wearing a mask and gloves and demanded money while pointing a gun. He emptied the registers and left with $276 in cash.

Officials say this suspect’s description appeared to match that of the suspect involved in the Matthews incident a few minutes earlier.
