KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (WBTV) - Work is underway on three additional Downtown Revitalization projects: Renovations to the Gem Theatre; preparing for the Pennant Square Townhomes on the former Plant 4 site and expansion of the Kannapolis Train Station. The renovations to the Gem Theatre include new ADA complaint restrooms on the first floor and restoring the marquee to its original glory. This phase of renovations to the Gem Theatre should be completed in early May.

Site work for the new Pennant Square Townhomes on S. Main Street began today. The site work includes removal of the former facility used by the Kannapolis Police Department and two dilapidated homes on the site.

NCDOT is expanding the Kannapolis Train Station. This expansion includes a new parking lot and a new platform. Site work on this project includes clearing the lot adjacent to the train station on Main Street which is happening now, according to the City of Kannapolis.
