Avery County man arrested in shooting death of neighbor

AVERY COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - A man was charged in the shooting death of his neighbor in Avery County, deputies say.
Edward Barnes was placed in jail until a $1 million bond.
The Avery County Sheriff told WBTV Barnes called 911 on Monday and told officers “the gun was in the house and he would be on the front lawn with a beer waiting on them.”
Officers are investigating.
