Driver thrown, killed after moped crashes into parked car in Kannapolis

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (WBTV) - A driver was thrown from a moped and killed after crashing into a parked car in Kannapolis Monday night.

Officers responded to Franklin Avenue, near the intersection of Northside Street around 8 p.m. There, officers found a moped that had crashed into a parked vehicle.

The moped was headed south on Franklin Avenue when it struck an unoccupied parked vehicle causing the person driving the moped to be thrown from it.

Cabarrus EMS and Kannapolis Fire Department personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the driver of the moped died from his injuries.

The driver was identified as 47-year-old Chadrick Solon Cochran of Kannapolis.
