Man dies after being trapped under vehicle at boating dock in Alexander County
Officials found a man dead after he was trapped under his vehicle at a boating dock in Alexander County.

ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - Officials found a man dead after he was trapped under his vehicle at a boating dock in Alexander County.

The Alexander County Communication Center got a 911 call about someone trapped under a vehicle at the Dusty Ridge Boating Access dock on Thursday at 9:18 a.m.

Alexander County Rescue, Wittenberg Fire Department and Alexander County Sheriff Office Deputies responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, emergency responders found 44-year-old Michael Hedrick dead.

Alexander County Investigators, NCSHP, and NC Wildlife responded to the scene to assist in the investigation.

After further investigation, it was found that Hedrick was having trouble with his vehicle’s transmission and while trying to fix it, the vehicle rolled backwards trapping him underneath.

Officials determined the incident was accidental and there was no foul play.

“Sheriff Chris Bowman would like to express his condolences to the family of the victim and encourages the community to remember this family in their thoughts and prayers,” a press release read.
