CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - We are answering Good Questions sent from you about the COVID-19 vaccine.
Tonight’s question comes from Adam.
“My question is whether or not a person can still spread covid to others after that original person was already infected with the virus? Can they still carry it and spread it to others even though they claim to be immune?”
This is a question researchers are trying to find an answer to.
There’s no clear answer yet - but here is what we do know.
Researchers say yes, people have some immunity after recovering... but, that immunity doesn’t last forever.
There have been several cases of people being re-infected.
And doctors say, they all have something in common.
“Most cases had four or more months from the first infection to the second, so that may be an inflection point perhaps,” a doctor said. “Our immunity (may) start to wane then, but we really don’t know that yet.”
If you have a Good Question, send it to us. We’ll try to get you an answer.
