First Alert in effect for mountain counties

WBTV Thursday morning weather forecast

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A First Alert remains out for the mountain counties – just for the morning hours – as last night’s storm covered back roads with snow, and it will stay blustery and cold there today with highs only in the 20s.

Elsewhere, sunshine is back in full force today but there will be a chilly breeze to contend with as afternoon temperatures inch up in the middle 40s across the Piedmont.

Clear and much colder tonight with lows in the low to mid 20s for most neighborhoods.

Sunshine holds strong for Friday and most of Saturday with seasonably chilly high temperatures in the upper 40s to near 50°.

The weekend looks to bring a split decision, as sunshine Saturday gives way to increasing clouds with yet again, another round of rain and mountain snow forecast for Sunday.  Sunday looks cold as well with highs only in the 40s.

Snow showers may continue into Monday for the mountains, however, the rest of the region should gradually clear out with highs recover to around 50°.

Hope you have a great day!
