FIRST ALERT: More rain and mountain snow

WBTV Wednesday morning weather forecast

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Today is another First Alert Day, as a couple of rounds of rain impact the WBTV area. The first batch will fall mainly during the morning and midday hours and primarily along and south/east of I-85.

A second, more widespread batch will arrive during the back end of the day and continue most of tonight. In the mountains, where a Winter Storm Warning is out for elevations above 3,500 feet, where rain will change to snow tonight and accumulate three to six inches in the higher elevations, with an inch or two possible in the population centers.

High temperatures today will inch up to the middle 50s this afternoon.

Rain tonight may even end as a little predawn snow in the foothills and northern Piedmont, but any accumulation would be on the light side, if at all. Lows will have back to the lower 30s overnight.

Sunshine returns for Thursday, Friday and most of Saturday with seasonably chilly high temperatures in the upper 40s to near 50°. There’ll be a gusty breeze to contend with as well on Thursday, adding to the late-January chill.

The weekend looks to bring a split decision, as sunshine Saturday gives way to increasing clouds with yet again, another round of rain and mountain snow expected on Sunday.

Hope you have a great hump day!
