CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - We have already reached our high temperature for the day. The temperature was 55 at 6 am… 64 at 7am… 55 at 8am. (Sneaky little warm front!)
We will likely stay in the 50s for the rest of the day. It will be breezy, too. Winds could gust 20-30mph at times.
There could also be a few sprinkles or a quick shower. Don’t be surprised if you even see a few flurries! They won’t last very long but if you’re lucky, you might get to see a few.
There is a First Alert for the mountains tonight. Snow will start to fall on the mountain tops first. As the sun goes down and the temperatures drop below freezing, more places will start to see snow.
It will take a while for it to start sticking. Ground temperatures are currently in the low 40s in the mountains. However, even for the valleys, you could start to see something sticking by tomorrow morning. 1-3″ will be possible.
Elevations where most people live, it will likely be an inch or less.
There is currently a Winter Weather Advisory for the higher elevations in Ashe and Watauga Co. There is a Winter Storm Warning for the higher elevations of Avery Co.
Tuesday will be cold for everyone! Temps will start out in the low 30s and highs will only make it to the mid 40s.
We will spend the rest of the week in the 50s for highs. Lows will be in the 20s Wednesday and Thursday. Then we will return to lows in the 30s after that.
We should manage to stay dry through Thursday. There’s a 30% chance for rain on Friday.
Next weekend is shaping up to be pretty nice. Highs should be in the mid 50s.
Enjoy your afternoon!
