Two 16-year-olds charged with robbing, killing man in southwest Charlotte

CMPD investigating homicide, 1 person killed

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Two 16-year-olds were arrested and charged with murder in the death of a man in southwest Charlotte Wednesday evening.

The teens, who have not been identified, are facing charges of murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a minor.

Police say the 21-year-old Jevon Ayala was shot and killed in southwest Charlotte. Officers said he was found in his car, but are not sure if that’s where he was shot or if he started to drive away after the shooting.

The incident happened sometime around 10 p.m. on Farmhurst Drive.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say detectives are investigating a homicide.

Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence. The CMPD’s Operations Command, Victim’s Assistance, Crimestoppers, Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Homicide Prosecution Team and MEDIC also responded to assist.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
