Woman killed in crash involving car, CATS bus in west Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A woman died following a crash involving a CATS bus and another vehicle Thursday evening in west Charlotte.
The crash happened around 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of West Morehead Street and Millerton Avenue. Police say it appears the CATS Airport Sprinter bus was going through the intersection when a Toyota Camry ran a stop sign and struck the bus.
The driver of the Camry, identified Friday as 28-year-old Aishwarya Jayasekar Mudaliar, was ejected from the vehicle. She was rushed to the hospital where she died a short time later.
One of three passengers on the bus was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Investigators say speed, failure to stop for a stop sign and not wearing a seatbelt contributed to the crash.
No further information has been released.
