ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) - A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle at around 5 a.m. in Rowan County Wednesday morning.

Officials confirm that the accident happened off Old Concord Road in the area near Webb Road.

Antonio “Tony” Rashad Alexander, 32, of Spencer, has now been identified as the victim.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Alexander was in an argument with his girlfriend in her car. After asking her several times, the girlfriend let Alexander out of the car, but she said she followed him with her emergency flashers on.

The girlfriend repeatedly asked Alexander to get back in the car, but he refused. At one point the girlfriend pulled in a driveway to turn around, and that’s when Alexander was struck by another car.

Troopers say Alexander was wearing all black, and that the driver did not see him. No charges are expected to be filed.

The road was closed during the investigation, but has since reopened.
