CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Police are investigating a homicide after a person was shot and killed Saturday evening in northwest Charlotte.
The shooting happened just after 9 p.m. in the 4500 block of Hovis Road.
Police said the victim, later identified as 29-year-old Demario Tillman, had been taken in a private vehicle to Atrium Health’s Carolina’s Medical Center. Tillman was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The initial investigation revealed that the shooting occurred after a verbal altercation between Tillman and shooter, who knew each other.
Police later charged Darryanna Hearn, 27, with Tillman’s murder.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect physical evidence.
