Food truck explodes in South End, police say

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A food truck went up in flames Saturday night in the South End neighborhood of Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

A video that was shared on social media platforms shows the truck exploding before being engulfed in flames.

Charlotte Fire Department said the food truck caught fire in the 1400 block of S. Tryon Street near W. Summit Avenue.

Fire officials said the fire was determined to be accidental, starting in the cooking area.

One person was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials say the damage is estimated to be worth about $5,000.

Police assisted the Charlotte Fire Department in responding.
