Arrest made in fatal shooting of mother in northwest Charlotte parking lot

CMPD investigating deadly shooting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A man is charged with murder in the killing of a mother in northwest Charlotte Monday night.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say 30-year-old Zenita Graham was shot and killed around 8 p.m. in a parking lot on Rozzelles Ferry Road off West Brookeshire Freeway. Graham was taken to the hospital by Medic. CMPD said she was awake and talking at the scene, but died shortly after arriving to the hospital.

Wednesday, police announced 23-year-old Dayshawn Malik Beckham was charged with murder in Graham’s death. Police identified Beckham as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Graham’s mother says she has questions about how someone could do this to her daughter. Friends of Graham said she has a young son.

In addition to murder, Beckham was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
