Juveniles who escaped NC detention center apprehended after 2 days on the run

Teens who escaped NC facility captured

CONCORD, N.C. (WBTV) - North Carolina Department of Public Safety officials say the boys who escaped a local juvenile corrections facility have been captured.

Hickory Police officers apprehended Mikal M. near Hickory, shortly before Chris H. was captured by marshals from the U.S. Marshals Service. Both boys were returned to a Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice juvenile detention center. Officials didn’t provide their full names because the boys are minors.

Earlier, the NCDPS were asking members of the Black Mountain community, near Asheville, to be cautious as authorities who continue to search for the two minors were in that area. Later, officials said the boys may be near Hickory.

The two boys escaped the Stonewall Jackson Youth Development Center in Concord around 2:45 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

Due to the unpredictability of juvenile behavior during an escape, the Department had a high degree of concern for the safety of the juveniles and the public.

These are the most recently taken photographs of the juvenile escapees below.
