Pedestrian hit, killed on Brookshire

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Portions of Brookshire Boulevard were shut down early Saturday morning as CMPD investigated an a deadly accident involving a pedestrian.

CMPD is reporting that the accident occurred on the Brookshire Boulevard between Graham Street and I-77.

An initial investigation into the incident determined that Tucker Rhodes, 30, had been driving his 2001 Toyota Camry when he was unable to avoid a pedestrian crossing a poorly lit portion of the road and, as a result, struck him.

The pedestrian was later identified as Deonte Lamar Wilkins, 25.

Rhodes was charged with driving under the influence but police report that excessive speed was not a factor in the accident.

No other details have been released at this time as the crash remains under investigation.
