Man shot, killed after fight in southwest Charlotte shopping center

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Charlotte police have charged a man in the fatal shooting of another man after a fight in a shopping center in southwest Charlotte Thursday afternoon.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, detectives have charged 29-year-old Quantez Dmontrae Bazley for his involvement in the murder of 33-year-old Alonzo Cedric Parker.

Police say the incident happened in a shopping center on Sharon Lakes Road Thursday around 4:40 p.m.

Officers arrived and found Parker with an apparent gunshot wound outside of a business complex. Parker was pronounced dead on the scene.

The shooting reportedly happened after a fight. Officers also say a bullet went through one of the businesses on the road.

As a result of the continued investigation, Bazley was identified as a suspect in this case and warrants were issued for his arrest. On Friday, Bazley was arrested without incident, served with outstanding warrants and taken to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Bazley has been charged with murder, shooting into occupied property causing serious bodily injury and shooting into occupied property.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.
