CONCORD, N.C. (WBTV) - A man was struck by a vehicle and killed while trying to cross the street in Concord early Thursday morning.
The deadly incident happened just after 7 a.m. on Branchview Drive at Cabarrus Avenue, closing the area for a time. Officials say the pedestrian, identified as 61-year-old Melvin Caldwell, was attempting to cross Branchview when he was struck by a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Caldwell was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed while crews worked at the scene but reopened around 8:30 a.m.
There is no word on any possible charges but police say the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
