Police searching for bank robber

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) - A man is being sought in connection to a reported bank robbery in Mooresville Tuesday morning.

The incident unfolded after 11 a.m. at the Fifth-Third Bank on River Highway off Interstate 77.

Police say employees told them that a man went into the business, demanded money, and left with an undetermined amount of cash. A weapon was not displayed.

“Someone walked into the bank and demanded money, got a little bit and walked out,” said Gerald Childress, Deputy Chief with Mooresville Police.

Bank employees described the suspect as a white male speaking in a Scottish or English accent, wearing blue jeans, dark colored poncho-type hoodie, gloves and sunglasses.

He has a slim build, is approximately 5’10” tall with a gray goatee, and in his early to mid-50s.

The suspect left on foot then got into a blue vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Aveo or Cobalt passenger car with chrome trim around the trunk area.

An investigation is continuing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Vanderbilt with the Mooresville Police Department at 704-664-3311.
