Man shot in leg in Lenoir, suspected shooter arrested

LENOIR, N.C. (WBTV) - A man was arrested after he allegedly shot another man in the leg in Lenoir Monday morning.

According to the Lenoir Police Department, the incident happened just after 11 a.m. on North Main Street. Police say the 30-year-old victim was rushed to Caldwell Memorial Hospital, but later had to be flown to Carolinas Medical Center due to his injuries.

After talking to witnesses, police arrested 30-year-old Christopher Bernard Cabinet and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Investigators say it appears Cabinet and the victim know one another and this was an isolated incident.

Cabinet was taken to the Caldwell County Jail and placed under a $500,000 bond.
