USGS: Low-magnitude earthquake shook area north of Columbia in S.C.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – A low-magnitude earthquake struck South Carolina Wednesday morning.

A post on the S.C. Emergency Management Division’s Facebook page states the U.S. Geological Survey confirmed a 1.4-magnitude quake occurred roughly 9 kilometers southwest of Winnsboro Mills.

The area impacted is north of Columbia and northeast of Lake Murray.
