CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Police have charged multiple juveniles for robbing a delivery driver at gunpoint in Charlotte Tuesday.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, police say a citizen observed a group of males loitering around a vacant house on Raspberry Knoll Drive on Tuesday around 7:42 p.m.
Officers say this witness then saw a pizza delivery driver trying to deliver food to the same vacant residence.
The witness reportedly realized that the group of males were possibly involved in criminal activity and called 911.
Officers responded and as they arrived, the group had just robbed the female delivery driver at gunpoint. She was not injured during the incident.
Police say all of the suspects attempted to flee the scene and multiple foot chases ensued. A CMPD K-9 and helicopter unit responded to assist.
Four male juvenile suspects were located and detained without further incident.
After being interviewed by detectives, it was determined that three of the individuals detained were actively involved in the crime and they have been charged for the robbery.
Because of their ages, the names of the suspects will not be released.
“The quick thinking of the witness in both determining what was going on and immediately calling 911 was crucial in solving this case and apprehending the suspects,” a press release from CMPD read.
