CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Officials with Charlotte-Douglas International Airport have reported a security incident was investigated by the FBI and local law enforcement agencies on-board a plane at the airport on Sunday.
The incident was confirmed by the airport late Sunday morning and the plane was identified as JetBlue flight 218, scheduled to depart from Charlotte to New York this morning.
The flight was delayed for additional security screenings ‘out of an abundance of caution’, according to JetBlue officials, who stated that they were working to get customers on their way to New York as soon as possible.
Following a thorough investigation of the aircraft, the FBI stated that, “there are no indications there was a threat to public safety.”
No further information has been released at this time.
