RALEIGH, N.C. (CBS 17 STAFF//WNCN) - Raleigh police shot a man who pointed a gun at officers during an encounter at an apartment complex off Falls of Neuse Road Sunday morning, officials confirm to CBS 17.

Officers were called to the 5200 block of Fall of Neuse Road around 9:30 a.m.

Responding officers encountered an armed man who pointed a gun at officers, police said.

Officers order the man to put down the weapon but the suspect did not comply and was shot, police said.

The officer was not injured and the suspect was transported to the hospital.

The extent of his injuries is unknown.

The officer's body camera was recording at the time of the shooting.
