CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Thursday’s high was 89, the hottest day of 2019 so far. But that honor won’t last long as Saturday will likely eclipse it as our forecast puts the afternoon highs into the low 90s which of course will also be the first 90-degree day of 2019.
Even though highs in the low 90s are WAY above the average high of 79, this date (May 18th) is about average for the first occurrence of a 90 degree day in Charlotte.
Temperatures Saturday afternoon will also be awfully close to the record for the date which is 94°.
A weak cool front comes through Monday cutting temps back to the mid 80s and bringing 30% coverage of storms.
After that, there are no signs of the hot and dry pattern breaking anytime soon. Temps will likely hold in the low 90s as we head into Memorial Day weekend.
