Mother goose found ‘clinging’ to lifeless eggs given orphaned goslings to care for

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A goose found covered in trash at a Charlotte shopping center after losing her family has been given orphaned goslings to care for.

Carolina Waterfowl Rescue says the goose, who has not yet been named, was found in the Crown Point Plaza shopping center off Sardis Road.

The goose lost her mate and her goslings this week. “Something” killed them, CWR says.

Rescue members say people had been throwing trash on the goose, as she was found “literally covered in garbage” and sitting on two rotten eggs.

“Clinging to her eggs which is all she has left of her family,” CWR said in a post that has garnered over 1.5K reactions.

“I just don’t understand how people have no compassion for other living creatures,” CWR said in the post.

The goose is safe and being treated for emaciation and dehydration.

“You can, literally, see sadness in her eyes. Sweet poor baby,” one person commented.

Carolina Waterfowl says they’re giving the mother goose several orphaned goslings to care for.

Carolina Waterfowl Rescue is located on Poplin Road in Indian Trail.
