CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Two small children were inside of a home when officials arrested two people for drug offenses.
Deputies with Iredell County Sheriff’s Office say they arrived at the home on Pilch Road after receiving a search warrant and found a marijuana growing operation inside a bedroom.
Officials say numerous additional items of paraphernalia and contraband were also found inside of the home.
The children who were inside during the time were taken into custody by the Department of Social Services.
Jamie Dawn Hill was arrested and charged with felony manufacturing marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling place to sell or use controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of a schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Joseph Watson Perrigan was charged with felony manufacturing marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling place to sell or use controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Perrigan was also served with an outstanding warrant for arrest and a fugitive warrant.
Christopher Dale Troutman was arrested inside the home for an outstanding warrant related to the sale of narcotics. He was also found to be in possession of a schedule III controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Officials say the children, ages 3 months and 1 year old, were exposed to several different illegal narcotics. Detectives filed additional abuse charges against Hill and Perrigan.
Hill and Watson were both later charged with two counts of misdemeanor child abuse and two counts of misdemeanor contribute to delinquency of a juvenile by neglect.
