Man arrested for robbery, kidnapping at business in Granite Falls

GRANITE FALLS, N.C. (WBTV) - Police arrested a man Wednesday for robbery and kidnapping in the armed robbery of a business in Granite Falls on May 3.

According to the Granite Falls Police Department, officers arrested 31-year-old Johnny Lee Griffin Jr. for robbery with a dangerous weapon and second-degree kidnapping for the robbery that occurred at Al’s Gameroom in Granite Falls on May 3.

The Longview Police Department took Griffin into custody after a foot chase on 19th Street NW Wednesday around 4:30 p.m.

Granite Falls Police received information that Griffin was in that area. Griffin sustained a foot injury during the chase. He was treated and released by Caldwell UNC Healthcare.

Griffin was placed in the Caldwell County Detention Center under a $200,000 secured bond. His first appearance is scheduled for May 16, 2019 in Lenoir District Court.

Griffin was also served with orders for arrest for failing to appear on unrelated charges. The bond from the failure to appears totaled $19,500.
