Charlotte Hornets to pick 12th in the NBA Draft

Charlotte Hornets to pick 12th in the NBA Draft

CHICAGO, IL (WBTV) - Before the NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday night, the Charlotte Hornets were slatted to have the 12th pick and after the lottery, nothing has changed.

The Hornets only had a 1% chance of moving into the top spot and a 4% chance of getting into the top 4.

They had an 86% chance of staying at 12 and that is where they will pick in June 20th’s NBA Draft.

It is the second time in franchise history that the team has had the 12th pick. Back in 2009, the Hornets picked Gerald Henderson out of Duke with the 12th pick.

Henderson spent 6 years with Charlotte and played in 111 games.

Charlotte also owns the 36th and 52nd picks in the 2nd round.

The New Orleans Pelicans won the draft lottery after having only a 6% chance to get the top spot. More than likely, the Pelicans will pick Duke forward Zion Williamson with the #1 pick.

The new draft lottery rules produced some unexpected results as Memphis will pick 2nd, the New York Knicks will pick 3rd, and the Los Angeles Lakers will pick 4th.

Before the lottery, the Knicks, Phoenix, and Cleveland all had a 14% chance at the top pick. The Cavaliers now have the 5th pick while the Suns will pick at #6.
